چکیده

A suitable reaction system, and proper conditions were designed to produce desirable polyurethane base thickener with a calculated number average molecular weight. Initially an ethoxylated urethane prepolymer was synthesized by reaction of a polyethylene glycol (M„=6000) and dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate using the step growth polymerization technique. Modification was carried out by reaction of cetyl alcohol with the resulting prepolymer . The synthesis of ethoxylated urethane was investigated by using FTIR . Also 1 H NMR was used for showing substituted hydrophobe parts . It was found that, the measured number average molecular weight of synthesized hydrophobically modified ethoxylated urethane (HEUR) was in agreement with the calculated M . The thickening efficiency of the modified ethoxylated urethane was compared with a similar unmodified urethane . It was concluded that, the efficiency of modified ethoxylated urethane is very high in comparison with the unmodified one, although the synthesis conditions were similar for both modified and unmodified urethanes.

Synthesis and Characterization of a Nonionic Urethane-Based Thickener

Hydrophobically modified ethoxylated urethanes have been synthesized using polyethylene glycol, hexamethylene diisocyanate and cetyl alcohol. These types of thickeners are categorized as nonionic associative thickeners. The HEURs were prepared in two steps. Initially an ethoxylated urethane prepolymer was synthesized through a reaction between a polyethylene glycol (Mn=6000) and hexamethylene d...

Glyceryl ether synthesis from long chain alcohols in elasmobranch stomach.

1. The isolated stomachs of the dogfish, Squdus acanthias, and the skate, Raja erinacea, were found to incorporate long chain alcohols and acetate, but not long chain fatty acids, into glyceryl ethers. 2. The criterion for evaluation of incorporation of radioactive substrates into glyceryl ethers was the measurement of activity of individual isopropylidene derivatives separated by means of gas-...

Synthesis and properties of Prussian blue nanoparticles prepared by using Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride as protecting agent

A new approach for the synthesis of Prussian blue nanoparticles using the cationic surfactant Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride (CPC) as capping agent has been developed in the present work. Powder X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, UV–vis absorption spectra, and IR spectroscopy were employed to characterize the product. The TEM image showed that the Prussian blue nanoparticles with d...

Synthesis and Investigation on Viscoelastic Properties of Urethane Acrylate- Polyaniline

The aim of this research is to investigate the viscoelastic behavior and determination of cross-link density of thin conductive coatings of urethane acrylate-polyaniline. For this purpose, polyaniline and urethane acrylate resin were synthesized. Nanocomposites with different percentages of polyaniline (1, 3, and 5%) were prepared and cured by ultraviolet irradiation. The viscoelastic prope...
